Attaching External Files

Using the referenceAttachment node in OpenBuildings™ GenerativeComponents is the most integrated way to import an external geometry file into your model. This node is restricted to attaching MicroStation design files (*.DGN) only. After creating a new model attachment, the new node is recorded in the transaction file and can be played and edited like all other OpenBuildings™ GenerativeComponents nodes.

When the original attached model is changed or edited in MicroStation, replaying the transaction updates the file to its current state.

Tip: Replication is also available allowing you to use the same reference multiple times. For instance, multiple stories of a building referencing a similar bathroom layout.
